good luck everybody!

In what ways do you feel you have progressed these last few months? What challenges still await you? Write a good-bye letter to your classmates. This is your last chance to show your appreciation and wish them good luck.

I feel I really have progressed in amount of vocabularies in my mental dictionary. I have learned countless words everyday while I was studying here in CSUF. It was really good opportunity that I could be an ALP student in this university. Yeh, I was here just for 12 credits for a semester abroad. But, ALP teachers taught me with greatful passion professionally. I appreciate that.
I am still expect to be progressed in writing. Writing is really tough thing to me both of writing in Korean and English. I had to write so many papers because of the tons of assignments from usa class and ALP classed.
But, the result of the hard job that I did so far seem positive. The most important thing is that I gained confidence of using English!

Hi everyone.
It was so nice to meet you guys for one semester.
I'm gonna leave to Korea next saturday, because I was nothing but an exchange student.
But, except me and other Koreans, most of you guys are expecting to get master degree in the u.s.
I really wish you guys would get master degree successfully in the future!
I really enjoyed studying composition with you guys. I was happy, writing assignment sometimes makes me hard though... :)
Good Luck Everybody!!!!
Can we meet in the future??? hahahahaha

Finally.. Thank you Sean!! You were a great teacher. You taught me a lot of things.
Thank you Thank you !!
Night night!

baraka

The movie "BARAKA" was amazing in many beautiful scenes of the world.
I think the one of the scenes in the movie represents the similiarity of trapped
chickens and busy people in the city; the people in the movie were portrayed as
anonymous existence,  because they just repeat the same motion. People in the big city cross the street back and forth endlessly. It seems that people are living in the city full of monotonous and repetition. They just follow and move the crossroad and escalator. Subsequently, the scene is shown that a chick sexer distinguish chick's sex and throw them to the two different hole. This subtlely overlaped scenes lead me to think about humans are likely to be changed into anonymous existence with mechanized theire life; it is including a lot of cars moving in many rows and people who exist through subway station ticket gate.

Dear. mom and dad

Dear. mom and dad.
What's goining on there? I really miss mom and dad.
I want to talk to mom and dad something evem if it worries you.
I have been dating with American boy friend for 5 days. Above all, I want to say sorry.
Because I did not ask you in advance if it is all right to get an American boyfriend.
While some Korean conservative parents concerned that most of the Americans are too opened about
sex, I think that it depends on the different person and different personality. And American boys are also
same as ordinary boys in Korea in some ways; they are also shy when they talk about something sexual.
Additionally, mom and dad might think that getting "American" boy friend surely distracts me from studying, while I keep my eyes on getting good grades and studying eagerly as usual. Yes, it is true that communication might be very difficult between me and him even parents, but I would acquire English conversation skills more easily with learning useful local language! I am sure that he will be my individual tutor as nice as can be just for me. And I could experience more specific and in-person American life with native American boy friend. Now, what do you say?  Where I might can get this such a golden opportunity to experience American real life? Please allow me to date with him!
I love ma! I love dad!! I really want to see you.

Yours Sincerely
Sae rom.

It seems that American adults don't know about the risk factors for high blood pressure exactly. Marissa(2011) reports in this article from the LA Times that about 76% of American people are considering wine as good  for the heart(par. 3). The problem is that most of them do not know moderate wine drinking that has recommended daily limits on wine(par.4). The American Heart Association recommends that limited drink no more than two drinks per day is moderate for human. Like wine, sodium comsumption should be limited for most people in 1,500 milligrams. Health experts said people who want to lower blood pressure have to cut back on sodium in daily diets.

analyzing argument

Katherine, S. (2011, April 20). Early retirement may be hazardous to your health. Los Angeles Times.
In this article Katherine intended to convince me of working longer is generally a good thing both intellectually and physically (par. 4). Her aregumant that continuing to work it good (par 4,5) is a claim of value which apeals to reason: she mentioned results of some studies that shows continuing working reduce the risk of cognitive skills. She has observed patients who quit thier job or continue to work for a long time. The result of patient's health are surely differntiated with to ways: it was good or bad. The credible results of research and studies are used in this article as logical evidences(overall paragraphs). The author completely convinced me through the article.

Gale database.

Deane, Pamala S. "Sitcom." St. James Encyclopedia of Popular Culture. Ed. Sara Pendergast and Tom Pendergast. Vol. 4. Detroit: St. James Press, 2000. 418-424. Gale Virtual Reference Library. Web. 13 Apr. 2011.

Pamala S. Deane is a lecturer and writer/researcher of broadcast and film history. She has writed a lot of books about TV programs and Film. And she is very famous person in the field of TV and broadcating. The article that I found is very useful to write my research paper on "How has the sitcom genre become so popular?". The article provide me a wide range and view about the development of  sitcom. In short, the article includes almost all information of sitcom A to Z. I will conduct my own research paper with consulting the article. I want fo find out the reason why the sitcoms become popular.

Research Question

We lately got a new project of research paper from our professor Sean!
In fact, I am insanely into American comedy programs especially sitcom. I have enjoyed watching sitcom
since I was an elementary school student. I love sitcom. But, I could remember that my father did not like to watch kind of "silly program" that it just gives laughing by acting like an idiot. Inspite of my father's hate toward sitcom, I love watching sitcom. I was rather shocked and surprised by composition of American television programs because it was consisting of mostly sitcom. Whenever I turn on the TV in my room, I can see all kinds of fun sitcom. So, I enjoy watching sitcom almost everyday. Consequently, I became interested in sitcom and characters in it. Actually, I don't have any backgrounds or knowledge about sitcom. I just enjoy and like it. All I want to do on my research paper is to find more information about why sitcom became popular among people. I will connect closely with my view.

spring break

I am counting down to spring break that will be the "big days". I'm going to go to san francisco by myself. I already bought my plane ticket to sanfrancisco. I will make specific plan to trip over there to go to all of the tourist attractions more efficiently. I'm very looking forward to do that because it is my first travel by myself. I have been always with someone. I guess that going away to the new place where I can not lean on anyone will make me much more independent. After having wonderful 3 days in sanfrancisco, I'm going to get a good rest with some interesting romantic comedies and American dramas. I can't wait!

if animals could talk with human beings

What would happen if animals could talk? What are some of the questions you would like to ask animals?

It is very extraordinary and interesting topic to me! If all animals have their own languages that could be possible to understandable to human beings, I would like to talk with snake and giraffe especially. I always wonder what they are thinking. It will be very fascinating to people at first ,but they feel If it happens in real, there would be great confusion in the sort of hierarchy between humans and animals. Animals will express their opinion as same as human and human will be harrassed by consciousness of crisis. Seriously, animals that have suffered from reckless destrunction of nature will try to fight against human beings.
I would like to ask them about the life of them. "Dear Mr. Giraffe. How do you feel the air on the height of you? Is it fresh? I also want to taste fresh air on your head. Can you lift me up on your head?" I have one more serious question to snake. "Most people think you are such a gross reptile. What is your opinion on that?"

best advice

What is the best advice you were ever given? Did you follow this advice? What happened? Alternatively, what is the best advice you have ever given?

My father always care about me even he is living far from me in Korea. He dedicated to give me advice about anything difficult to me. I tend to take everything serious. I have many worries and I always worry about everything. When I plunged into deep thinking seriously, my father said "take it easy, don't think everything seriously. you have too many worries.". This is such a fitted advice only for me to overcome the difficulty that I  experienced at that time. I keep that in mind and followed his advice in real situation. Then, there is no need to worry about something. It was really load off my mind. And, I can do all the things with a light heart. I felt light- hearted and optimistic suddenly. My father helps me feel much relieved than before I heard that advice. It was the best advice I been ever given. Now I can do something difficult without any fears and worries.

American food

Prompt: What is American food? If your friend said, "Let's go eat American," what would you think he meant? Are hamburgers the only traditional American food? What do you think about American food? Do you enjoy any of it? Do you hate all of it? You could compare or contrast it with your own food or describe the causes and effects of the American style of eating.

If my friend asked me to eat out to have American food, I would think it meant as "Let's go to the In and Out!"and I might refused to go with my friend. As sean mentioned above, America has very short history. So, I think it is hard to answer the "what is the traditional American food". The United states of America is composed of people of various races and various cultures. In short, America is a 'melting pot'. Many Americans can enjoy the all kinds of food in the one country. When I think of the only American food,  I imagine 'fatty hamberger'. American prefer to eat something convenient because they are always busy. I like some of American food like chocolate fudge cookies. But I really hate all kinds of greasy food.

wanna be a optimist

I think it means that the person who has positive views on every ways can catch the chance in every opportunity, but the person who has negative views on every ways can not do that. I agree with it sincerely because I already have experience to miss my chance with negative views when I was a high school student. In fact, I do not know that I am a optimistic or pessimistic. But, I can tell everyone I have generally pessimistic views. For example, when I travel with my friend last week, we encountered a difficult situation with the ticketing of metrolink from LA to fullerton. We made a crucial mistake that we did not check the time on weekend. Finally, we decided to buy a new ticket, meanwhile, we have non-refundable ticket. It was our terrible fault. At that time, I viewed what happened in a negative light. And I was irritable and tempered to my friend. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to my friend.
I had a car accident today 4:00 PM on my way to home from school in front of the TROY HIGH SCHOOL. Today was unlucky day…. I am so sad. I want to be consoled from other someone. I feel lonely. It makes me be pessimistic. I don’t want to. I really want to be a optimist. Please help. Help me god! Save me! Rescue me among the awful difficulties! PLEASE!!.....

My BFs in Korea and me

I always hang out with 3 best friends in Korea. Their name is Yeji, Sookyoung, Hyunju. Their types of act in usual and favorite food are very similar with me. When we eat out something, we often eat chicken because chicken is our favorite dish. And we have a lot of sense of humor. My friends are as tall as me. Average height of us is 160cm. we had once the same dream boyfriend in Korea. It means we have the same standard of beauty. We usually go to a movie when our casual time to see a romantic comedy. We have similar tastes in music, movie, celebrities, fashion. We always share common interests.
If I find the differences between my friends and me, there is not much to say about that. Yeji is a believer in Buddhism and Sookyoung and me are Christian. Hyunju don’t have a religion. Yeji had a boyfriend, so she enjoys bowling with her boyfriend as a hobby. Sookyoung, Hyunju and me were totally single, so we had several blind dates. We met some hot guys there but, we chose the same guy. It proved that we have the same ideal type. We share everything because we are soulmate. People around me envy us because we always have such a good friendship. The sentence “Birds of a feather flock together” represents our relationship very well.

I really want to own a car!

I really really want to own a car! I have terrible problem with taking a bus every day.
I am living in Yorba Linda blvd nearby imperial highway.  My host house is extremly far from CSUF. I think it is crazy. Everyday morning always make me crazy. Bus is scheduled to come to the bus stop near my house every hour just once. Orange County's trasportation system is horrible. It is the worst trasportation system in the universe!! I have never seen this kind of system. It is very hard to get around here in the U.S. without a car because most of American own their car. I guess America is huge country so, it is necessary to have car for daily routine. In contrast to America, my counrty is pretty much smaller than america so it is possible to get around over the country by taking bus. And schedule of bus is very desirable to take a bus for citizens. Generally, bus is schedulled to come every 10 minutes.
hum... All I want to say is OCTA is the worst worst worst in the world!

My playlist

I love listen to pop songs especially among many kinds of music. In other words, I always been with pop songs not korea songs since I was 13 years old. So, pop songs had a great influence on me to choose my major and interst in English. A couple of my friends even wondered about my taste to give such a popsong that is too difficult to understand. But, I persist in my odd taste because a lot of attractive pop songs appeal to me continuously. When I was a middle school student in Korea, I addicted to westlife which is a group of Ireland. Thier harmony of sounds was beutiful the most so that they had a great popularity even in my country for the song its named "my love" in its day. I usually enjoy listening to ballad by the way:).
My favorite song these days is "crush" by david archuleta who was one of the performers in American Idol.
I think it was a fate that I hear this song by a curious coincidence. I listen his song when I hang out with my friend in a bar. I was deeply touched by his voice and lyrics. He is the best in the world.. whoever marry with him is the luckiest girl in the universe.  I can not live for the day without his voice!

Weather

My favorite weather is pleasant weather enough to not wear any outer. Actually, the reason why I chose
CSUF is the weather in california is warm all the year around. I don't like fog and hazy. Moreover, I also hate hot and cold weather. I sometimes enjoy a cup of coffee feeling warm air and clear sky. When the weather in Korea is very nice, I used to go to a park around my house to see the fountain and people are shimmering in the sunlight. My freinds who travelled around England last year said that the weather in England was horrible becuase they have heavy rain and fog almost everyday while she was traveling.
Contrary to U.S and England, Korea boasts variety scenery in its four seasons. There are warm spring and hot summer in the first half year. Plus,  there are autumn that can feel romantic emotion with a deep melancholy and witer which is snow's season. I love my country's various seasons either. But I prefer warm weather most!
...It's chilly in the morning these days so, I always bring my warm outer. When will the chilly weather be end in california?

my fears..

When I was a middle school student in Korea, I had a chance to talk and share about my fears with a couple of friends. I'm very afraid of death and water. These things have turned out from my personal experiences.
I witnessed a horrible scene that was my dog's death when I was 6 years old. 15 years passed since my dog dead but, I never forget this terrible memory. I love my doggie most in those days. As a result, I am extremely afraid of death. Unexpectedly, I had a chance to enter a coffin when I participated in volunteering camp. I indirectly experience the death and I feel like crying because it seemed like being alone completely.
After this horrible experience, I dread death more than ever. I feel even sorrow for death because it is inevitable.
I also hate swimming in valley or deep water. I always awed by deep blue color of huge and deep sea or river. I nearly fell in to the deep water in mountain valley when I was an elementary school student. After experiencing this fear, I can not swim well.
I think it is difficult to overcome without my effort to try these things endlessly. However, I still fearful of these fears while I write down this journal. I hate death and deep blue of deep water.

My New Year's Resolution.

What is your New Year's Resolution? Is there something you hope to change about yourself? Is there something you hope to accomplish this year? Why did you choose this resolution? What will you do to be true to your resolution? Will it be difficult?

My New Year's Resolution is reading books at least 100.  Actually, I don't like to read some difficult meterials even if it is helpful to study. My father always says that book is the most important and basic meterial of studying. To accomplish this difficult thing, I have to change my habit first. When I have free time, I decided to read a book. I signed up a English Literature class lately, so I should read shelly's frankenstein.
It seems to a bit difficult for me but, I will make an effort to accomplish my New Year's resolution. I'm sure that it helps me to broden my outlook. In addition to, I want to seek after truth through the books.
I made up my mind to carry it out with all my might!
Is anybody else to do it together? :)

Hi! This is Andy!

Nice to meet you every one in the ALP composition class.
I hope to get along with you guys:)
My name is Saerom, Youn and English name is Andy. I'm from South Korea.
I guess some of you guys already know that my country is still divided into two countries..So, there
are two different countries in KOREA.

I want to introduce my family. There are 5 members in my family. Both of my father and mother are teacher
in school. And my older sister is working in the university in Kongju-si as an assistant. My younger brother is
a highschool student and he is very good at studying. He is amazing boy. I love him and so proud of him.
hmm....It makes me feel shame but my major in Korea is English language and literature. Because I'm not good at speaking English. u.u.. Please help me.
My hobby is riding a bike and listening to music. I love David Archulete who appeared on the "American Idol". I'm sure that someone of you guys know him. His voice makes me relax and happy. If I get a chance, I would go to his concert during staying in the U.S. Do u wanna go with me ? anybody?
Finally, I want to improve my English writing skill from this class. I can not wait to meet my handsome professor and friends.
See you soon !
